Upon completion of this program, participants will have a better understanding of the importance of stress and deflection when engineering structural glazing and the various types of back-up structures, including glass fins, steel and tension cables, and how structural glazing systems can used to create glass skylights and canopies. New developments will also be discussed, including triple insulated bolted glass, bomb-blast resistant glazing, hurricane impact resistant façades, dual skin climate walls and direct print to glass technology.

Criteria include weather-ability, structural integrity, energy efficiency, condensation resistance, and sound control. Recommendations for specifications and application are also given, along with an in-depth look at industry standards and test methods, from the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE), American Architectural Manufacturers Association (AAMA), National Fenestration Ratings Council (NFRC), and the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM), as well as the US Green Building Council LEED® Green Building Rating SystemTM.
Steve Fronek, P.E., LEED® Green Associate, leads new product development, marketing, technical support and general research as Vice Presidents of Technical Services for Wausau Window and Wall Systems. He works closely with all channels of distribution, as well as Wausau’s internal departments and regional teams. A mechanical engineering graduate of Michigan Technological University, Steve is a registered professional engineer in the State of Wisconsin. He has served as vice chairman of the North Central Technical College Board of Trustees and is a member of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory’s High Performance Building Façade Solutions public advisory committee.
