Code Considerations in Fire Rated Glass
(1 AIA LU/HSW Credit)

Presented by Tim Nass, SAFTI FIRST

The advent of advanced fire rated glass that outperform wired glass in many ways has certainly given architects the ability to incorporate glass in their design like never before.  This presentation empowers architects and specifiers to choose the correct, code compliant glazing product for every fire rated application.  This presentation will help participants distinguish between fire protective and fire resistive glass and glazing systems, interpret IBC fire code and fire test requirements, recognize fire rating listing limitations and determine the best product value for their budget.

Tim Nass has over 15 years of experience in the architectural glazing industry.  As the National Sales Manager, he brings his extensive knowledge and expertise when working closely with architects and contract glaziers.  Tim also oversees SAFTI FIRST’s national network of architectural sales representatives.

Innovations in Structural Glass (1 AIA LU)

Presented by Jeff Haber, W&W Glass LLC

Upon completion of this program, participants will have a better understanding of the importance of stress and deflection when engineering structural glazing and the various types of back-up structures, including glass fins, steel and tension cables, and how structural glazing systems can used to create glass skylights and canopies.  New developments will also be discussed, including triple insulated bolted glass, bomb-blast resistant glazing, hurricane impact resistant façades, dual skin climate walls and direct print to glass technology.

Jeff Haber is a Managing Partner at W&W Glass, LLC and has been working with structural glass systems for almost 20 years.  He is directly responsible for sales, marketing, and estimating for the Pilkington Planar System throughout North America.
