What are the new national code requirements for all fire-rated glass?
Recent safety mandates dictated by building codes have put an end to the previous exemption of traditional wired glass from safety glazing performance requirements. All fire rated glazing in potentially hazardous locations (i.e. doors, sidelites, etc.) must now comply with Federal Consumer Products Safety Commission (CPSC) impact resistance standards. All additions and alterations to existing buildings must comply with the new codes. This includes the replacement of existing traditional wired glass.
